Is Exness legit? What its licences do and do not tell you
Exness runs licensed entities in several countries. Which licence applies to you, where Exness is restricted or flagged, and what a licence cannot protect.

Exness is a licensed broker group, not a single company: Exness ZA (Pty) Ltd1 is a Financial Service Provider (FSP) authorised by the FSCA, FSP number 510241, Exness (KE) Limited2 holds a non-dealing online foreign exchange broker licence from the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kenya, licence number 1622, and Exness (SC) Ltd2 is licensed by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Seychelles, Securities Dealer licence SD0252. You can check each of these on the regulator's own register.
Whether it is a sound choice for you depends on which entity would hold your account and on the law where you live. In India, for example, Exness is named on the Reserve Bank of India's Alert List of entities not authorised to deal in forex or to operate electronic trading platforms for forex (list updated as on November 19, 2025)3.
The licences, entity by entity
| Entity | Licence |
|---|---|
| Exness ZA (Pty) Ltd1 | Financial Service Provider (FSP) authorised by the FSCA, FSP number 510241 |
| Exness (KE) Limited2 | non-dealing online foreign exchange broker licence from the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kenya, licence number 1622 |
| Exness (SC) Ltd2 | Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Seychelles, Securities Dealer licence SD0252 |
| Exness B.V. | Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS), Securities Intermediary licence 0003LSI2 |
| Exness (VG) Ltd | Financial Services Commission (FSC) of the British Virgin Islands, investment business licence SIBA/L/20/11332 |
| Exness (MU) Ltd | Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Mauritius, Investment Dealer licence GB20025294; the page says it does not currently provide retail services2 |
| Exness (Cy) Ltd | CySEC, Cyprus Investment Firm licence 178/12; does not offer services to retail clients2 |
| Exness (UK) Ltd | FCA, Financial Services Register number 730729; does not offer services to retail clients2 |
Note the last rows: the Cyprus and UK entities do not take retail clients, so a retail account is never covered by those licences. The licence that matters is the one on your own client agreement.
Where Exness is restricted or flagged
- Not served: the global site does not serve certain jurisdictions, including the USA, Canada, Europe, the UK, Russia and Belarus4.
- India: Exness is named on the Reserve Bank of India's Alert List of entities not authorised to deal in forex or to operate electronic trading platforms for forex (list updated as on November 19, 2025)3. Details in is Exness legal in India.
- Nigeria: the SEC says under the Investments and Securities Act (ISA) 2025 it is an offence to operate an online foreign exchange (forex) trading platform in Nigeria without SEC registration5, and Exness's regulation page no entity registered with SEC Nigeria is listed2. See the Nigeria page.
- South Africa and Kenya: local entities hold local licences; see the FSCA authorisation and the CMA licence.
What a licence cannot do
A licence means a regulator supervises the firm. It does not stop you losing money: Exness's own South African site warns that “Trading leveraged products such as CFDs on forex and derivatives may not be suitable for all investors as they carry a high level of risk to your invested capital1.” Treat any promise of easy or fixed returns from anyone claiming to represent a broker as a warning sign, and only use the broker's official website and app.
Our Exness start page groups every country page and cost page in one place.
