XM Review: Accounts, Real Costs per Lot, Regulation and Rebates
An XM review built on sourced facts: Standard, Ultra Low and Zero costs per lot, $5 minimum deposit, regulators by entity, platforms and how rebates work.

XM suits traders who want a low entry point and a choice between spread-only and commission pricing: most accounts open from $5, the Standard and Ultra Low accounts charge no commission, and the Zero account charges $3.50 per side. Its global arm, XM Global Limited, is registered with the FSC of Belize, an offshore regulator. We give no star rating; below is what XM and independent testers publish, with the source next to each figure.
XM accounts compared
| Account | Commission | Average EUR/USD spread measured by ForexBrokers.com | Minimum deposit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | None (spread only) | 2.0 pips | $5 |
| Ultra Low | None (spread only) | 1.1 pips (minimum 0.8) | $5 |
| Zero | $3.50 per side, $7.00 per round-turn lot | Raw spread (no average given) | $5 |
| Shares | Not covered here | Cash equities, no leverage, offshore entities only | $10,000 |
Sources: ForexBrokers.com XM review (updated 4 September 2026) for deposits, measured spreads and the Zero commission. The spreads are a third party's averages from its own testing, not prices XM guarantees, and XM's own pages we opened did not list "from" spreads per account. Your platform shows the live spread.
What a lot costs on each XM account
EUR/USD pays $10 per pip on one standard lot (see the pip calculator). Using the measured averages above:
- Standard: 2.0 pips x $10 = $20.00 per lot.
- Ultra Low: 1.1 pips x $10 = $11.00 per lot.
- Zero: its commission alone is $7.00, and $7.00 / $10 = 0.7 pips. So Zero only undercuts Ultra Low if its own spread averages under 0.4 pips (1.1 − 0.7 = 0.4).
Scale that to a trader who closes 5 lots a day for 20 trading days, which is 5 lots x 20 days = 100 lots a month. Standard costs $20.00 x 100 = $2,000.00 and Ultra Low costs $11.00 x 100 = $1,100.00. At these averages, picking Ultra Low over Standard is the single biggest cost decision on XM, larger than any rebate.

Swaps (overnight financing) are extra and are listed in the platform's contract specifications.
Regulation and which XM company you join
| Entity | Regulator |
|---|---|
| XM Global Limited | FSC Belize, licence 8557558 |
| Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd (EEA clients) | CySEC (Cyprus) |
| Other XM group entities | DFSA (Dubai), FSCA (South Africa), FSA (Seychelles), FSC (Mauritius) |

Platforms, leverage and who XM turns away
- Platforms: MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and the XM App for web and mobile. There is no cTrader. Source: ForexBrokers.com XM review (updated 4 September 2026).
- Leverage: from 30:1 at the EU entity up to as much as 1000:1 at XM Global. High leverage lets a small move wipe out an account; size positions with the lot size calculator first.
- Not served: XM Global says it does not provide its service to citizens of the United States, Canada, Israel and Iran, or other sanctioned countries. Source: XM regulation page.
Rebates on XM
XM Partners offers a CPA payment of up to $1,000 per client (availability varies by country) as well as lot-rebate and revenue-share plans, and pays partners daily. It does not publish per-lot rates, so any per-lot rebate figure for XM is quoted by the rebate provider, not by XM. Source: XM Partners payment plans.
If you open an XM account through our partner link, our rebate program passes you 75% of the per-trade commission XM pays us for your trades, monthly in USDT (TRC20). We confirm the rate for your account before you start, and we never ask for your password or a deposit. For how XM compares with Exness on published partner terms, read Exness vs XM Rebates.
Strengths, weaknesses and open questions
- Strengths: a $5 minimum on most accounts, two no-commission accounts, MT4 and MT5, and an EEA entity under CySEC.
- Weaknesses: the global entity is offshore (Belize), the Standard account measured wide at 2.0 pips, and no cTrader.
- Not knowable from published data: execution during news, withdrawal speed and support quality. Start small and judge them yourself.
Risk warning
Trading forex and CFDs with leverage can lose you more than you expect, fast, and a rebate never makes a losing strategy profitable. XM's terms vary by entity and change over time; confirm them on xm.com before you deposit. See our risk disclaimer. Nothing here is financial advice.
