Forex Trading Cost Calculator
Cost per lot = spread in pips × pip value + round-turn commission; monthly cost = cost per lot × lots a day × 22 trading days. A 1.2-pip EUR/USD spread with no commission costs $12 per lot.
Every lot you trade costs you the spread, plus a commission on Raw and ECN accounts. Pick a broker, account type and instrument, enter how many lots you trade a day, and the calculator shows your cost per lot, per month and per year.

Trading cost formula
Spread cost per lot = Spread (pips) × Pip value per lot
Cost per lot = Spread cost + Commission (round turn)
Monthly cost = Cost per lot × Lots per day × 22 trading days
Yearly cost = Monthly cost × 12
A Standard account has no commission but a wider spread; a Raw or ECN account has a spread from 0.0 pips plus a commission per lot. The cheaper one depends on the spread you actually get, so enter your platform's average.
Swaps are not included: they vary by instrument, direction and broker. Commissions for each broker, with sources, are in the forex commission comparison.
Worked examples
Exness Raw Spread, EUR/USD, 2 lots a day
- Spread 0.2 pips × $10 = $2.00
- Cost per lot = $2.00 + $7.00 commission = $9.00
- Lots a month = 2 × 22 = 44
- Monthly cost = 44 × $9.00 = $396.00
About $396.00 a month, $4752.00 a year.
Markets4you Pro, EUR/USD, 5 lots a day
- Spread 0.2 pips × $10 = $2.00
- Cost per lot = $2.00 + $7.00 commission = $9.00
- Lots a month = 5 × 22 = 110
- Monthly cost = 110 × $9.00 = $990.00
About $990.00 a month, $11880.00 a year.
IC Markets Raw Spread (MetaTrader), EUR/USD, 1 lot a day
- Spread 0.2 pips × $10 = $2.00
- Cost per lot = $2.00 + $7.00 commission = $9.00

- Monthly cost = 22 × $9.00 = $198.00
About $198.00 a month, $2376.00 a year.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my forex trading cost?
Multiply the spread in pips by the pip value per lot, add the round-turn commission, then multiply by the lots you trade. Example: Exness Raw Spread, EUR/USD, 2 lots a day: Cost per lot = $2.00 + $7.00 commission = $9.00; Monthly cost = 44 × $9.00 = $396.00.
Standard or Raw account: which is cheaper?
A commission of $7.00 per round-turn lot equals 0.7 pips on EUR/USD ($10 per pip), so the Raw account is cheaper only when its spread is more than 0.7 pips tighter than the Standard spread at the same time.
Are costs charged on losing trades?
Yes. Spread and commission are paid on every lot, win or lose, so trading more always costs more.
How many trading days are in a month?
The calculator uses 22 trading days a month (5 days a week). If you trade fewer days, enter your average lots per day over the whole month instead.
