What the RBI Alert List is
The Reserve Bank of India publishes an Alert List of entities that are not authorised to deal in forex or to run electronic trading platforms for forex. Exness is named on the Reserve Bank of India's Alert List of entities not authorised to deal in forex or to operate electronic trading platforms for forex (list updated as on November 19, 2025)1.
The list cuts one way only: the RBI says the Alert List is not exhaustive: an entity that is not on it should not be assumed to be authorised2.
What FEMA allows Indian residents to do
The RBI's guidance on the Foreign Exchange Management Act says residents may deal in forex only with authorised persons and, electronically, only on RBI-authorised platforms or recognised exchanges (NSE, BSE, MSE); trading on unauthorised platforms can lead to penal action under FEMA2. In practice, that points Indian residents to currency derivatives on the recognised Indian exchanges the RBI names, not to offshore CFD platforms.
Does Exness have an Indian licence?
Exness's regulation page lists entities in several countries, and no entity licensed in India is listed3. Its licences elsewhere, such as the Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Seychelles, Securities Dealer licence SD0253, do not authorise it under Indian law. The full list is on our Exness overview page.
Before you do anything
- Search the RBI Alert List yourself on rbi.org.in.
- Be wary of anyone who offers to fund or manage an offshore trading account for you, or asks you to pay through a third party.
- If you have questions about your own situation, ask a chartered accountant or lawyer who works on FEMA matters.
