Forex Cashback vs Rebate vs IB Commission: Same Money, Three Names
Cashback, rebate and IB commission usually describe the same broker-paid money at different points in the chain. See the differences and the per-lot arithmetic.

Short answer: in practice, forex cashback, forex rebate and IB commission usually describe the same money seen from different places. The broker pays an introducing broker (IB) or partner a commission for referred clients' trading. If the partner passes part of it to the trader, the trader calls it a rebate or cashback. The IB calls the whole amount commission.
The differences that matter are how the broker calculates the partner payment, how much the partner keeps, and what you actually receive per lot. Those are covered below.
The three terms side by side
| Term | Who uses it | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| IB commission | Brokers and partners | What the broker pays the introducing broker or partner for referred clients' activity. |
| Rebate | Traders, rebate sites | The part of that commission passed back to you, often described per lot or as a percentage. |
| Cashback | Marketing copy | A friendlier word for a rebate. It does not describe a different payment unless the provider defines it differently. |
Because the words are not regulated terms, read each provider's definition. Check whether the figure quoted is what the partner receives or what you receive. For the full money flow, see What Are Forex Rebates? and Forex Cashback: Where the Money Comes From.
How brokers structure the IB commission
The broker's partner plan sets the ceiling for any rebate. Published plans differ:
- Revenue share. Exness's partner program pays up to 40% of revenue from referred clients' trades, with instant and daily payout options depending on the program (Exness Affiliates). Those payouts are the broker's payments to partners, not a promise about when a trader is paid.
- Tiered percentage plus per-lot shares. Markets4you describes an IB program of up to 72% commission, tiered by status (Bronze 40% up to Diamond 60%) plus a loyalty bonus of up to 20% on monthly commission, and up to $14.40 per lot from spread share on EUR/USD (Markets4you partner program FAQ).
- CPA (a one-off fee per client). XM Partners lists CPA of up to $1,000 per client, with availability varying by country, alongside lot-rebate and revenue-share plans (XM Partners payment plans). Vantage CPA affiliates receive up to $1,200 per client introduced (Vantage Help Center).
A CPA payout is not a trader rebate. It is paid once to the partner, and nothing in these sources says it is shared with you. Per-lot and revenue-share plans are the ones that can fund a rebate on every lot. XM, Vantage and IC Markets did not publish a per-lot or percentage partner rate on the pages we checked, so a rebate provider has to quote it. Do not rely on third-party figures for those brokers.
Worked example: where the rebate comes from
Example only. All inputs are hypothetical and are the same for every broker. Assume EUR/USD, a 1.0 pip spread, 1 standard lot (100,000 units) and $10 per pip per lot. Spread cost = 1.0 x $10 x 1 lot = $10.00. You can check pip values with our Pip Calculator.
Now add each account's verified commission. Net cost per lot = spread cost + commission − rebate, so the table stops at gross cost, before any rebate.
| Account | Spread cost | Commission per lot, round turn | Gross cost per lot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exness Standard | $10.00 | $0 (no commission) | $10.00 |
| Exness Raw Spread | $10.00 | Up to $7.00 ($3.50 x 2) | Up to $17.00 |
| Vantage Raw ECN | $10.00 | From $6.00 ($3.00 x 2) | From $16.00 |
| IC Markets Raw Spread (MetaTrader) | $10.00 | $7.00 ($3.50 x 2) | $17.00 |
Sources: Exness commission, Exness Professional accounts page; Vantage commission, Vantage Help Center: commission fees; IC Markets commission, IC Markets account overview. Because Vantage's commission is 'from' $3.00 per side, its $16.00 is a minimum, not a fixed total. Exness's $7.00 is an 'up to' ceiling.

Real spreads differ by broker, account and time of day. This example removes spread differences to show only how commission and rebate change the total. Always check the live spread on your own platform.
How big can the partner pool be?
Exness says its partners earn up to 40% of revenue from referred clients' trades. It does not publish its revenue per lot, so as an approximation we take revenue as spread plus commission:
- Standard: 40% x $10.00 = up to $4.00 per lot.
- Raw Spread: 40% x up to $17.00 = up to $6.80 per lot.

These are ceilings for the partner's side, not what you receive. A rebate provider passes on only part of it, and Blocktechpro does not pay rebates at all. Even in the impossible case where a trader got the whole $6.80, Raw Spread net cost would be $17.00 − $6.80 = $10.20. A rebate lowers your cost per lot but does not remove it.
Which term should you compare?
- Ask what the number is. Is it the partner's maximum, or the share you receive? Only the second changes your net cost.
- Check the unit. Dollars per lot, a percentage of spread, and a percentage of broker revenue are different measures and cannot be compared directly.
- Compare after costs. Spread and commission usually matter more than the rebate. A rebate on a wider-spread account can still leave a higher net cost than a tighter account.
- Check payout timing with the provider. The broker's schedule for paying partners is not the same as when you are paid.

How the Exness route works
Exness's Help Center says that when you register a new account you can enter a Partner code, after the email and password and before the confirmation that you are not a U.S. citizen or resident. An invalid code clears the field so you can retry (Exness Help Center: registering an account). Our code is ccm34k1you. You can open an account through the Exness partner link, and the full steps are in Exness Partner Code: How to Use ccm34k1you.
If you already have an Exness account, support can tell you only your partner's account number. The Help Center pages we checked publish no self-service way to change partner, so ask Exness support whether it is possible (Exness Help Center: Can I find out who my partner is?). Exness does not serve residents of the USA, Canada, Europe, the UK, Russia and Belarus on its global site (Exness Standard accounts page), so rebates are only relevant if you can legally open an account.
Disclosure and how to verify
Blocktechpro earns partner income from broker links and keeps it; we do not pay rebates. If you use a rebate provider, verify its offer yourself. Get the share of the partner rate in writing, find out how it is calculated and when it is paid, and confirm commissions and spreads on the broker's official fee page. Terms change over time and vary by country and entity.
Risk warning
Leveraged forex and CFD trading, including gold and index CFDs, can lose money quickly. Rebates do not offset trading losses, and they should not be a reason to trade more. Swaps (overnight financing) vary by instrument, direction and broker and are shown in the platform's contract specification. Read our risk disclaimer before you trade. To size trades, use the Lot Size Calculator.
