What Are Forex Rebates? How the Money Flows and What You Really Save

Forex rebates explained: how IB commission funds them, the four ways brokers pay partners, the net cost formula worked through, and checks before you sign up.

How we check figures
Bar chart of a monthly forex rebate at $3.60 per lot: $72 at 20 lots and $720 at 200 lots.

A forex rebate is money paid back to you for every lot you trade, funded by the commission a broker pays the partner (introducing broker) who referred you. Your spread and commission stay the same; the rebate comes afterwards, so your net cost per lot falls. It rewards volume, not skill: a rebate lowers the cost of trades you would place anyway, but it cannot turn a losing strategy into a winning one.

Rebate, cashback, IB commission: three names, one flow of money

TermWho receives itWhat it is
IB (partner) commissionThe introducing brokerWhat the broker pays the partner from the revenue your trades generate
Forex rebateYou, the traderThe part of that commission the partner passes back to you, per lot or as a percentage
CashbackYou, the traderMarketing name for the same rebate; some sites use it for monthly payouts

How brokers set the partner commission

The rebate you can get depends on how the broker pays its partners. The five brokers we cover use four different models:

ModelExample (published by the broker)Can it fund a per-lot rebate?
Share of broker revenueExness: up to 40% of its revenue from your trades (Exness Affiliates)Yes
Tiered percentageMarkets4you: Bronze 40% up to 72% with bonus (Markets4you partner program FAQ)Yes
One-off CPAXM up to $1,000 per client (XM Partners payment plans); Vantage up to $1,200 per client (Vantage Help Center: How to become a CPA affiliate)No, it is paid once per client, not per lot
Not publishedIC Markets: no public partner ratesUnknown until quoted

XM also offers lot-rebate and revenue-share plans alongside CPA, so the plan a partner chose decides whether there is a per-lot amount to share.

The net cost formula, worked through

Every rebate comparison comes down to one line: Spread + Commission − Rebate = Net Cost per Lot. Take an Exness Standard account, EUR/USD, and an assumed 1.2 pip spread (an example, not a quote):

  • Spread cost: 1.2 pips x $10 = $12.00 per lot, with no commission.
  • Partner commission at the published maximum, if Exness's revenue on the lot were the full spread: 40% x $12.00 = $4.80.
  • Your rebate if a provider passed on an example 75% share: $4.80 x 75% = $3.60.
  • Net cost: $12.00 + $0.00 − $3.60 = $8.40 per lot.

That is 30% off the cost of each lot ($3.60 / $12.00 = 0.3). The partner rate is an "up to" figure, so the real amount depends on the account, your country and the partner's tier. Our forex commission comparison lays out commissions for all five brokers.

Why volume decides whether a rebate matters

The same $3.60 per lot is small for an occasional trader and large for an active one. At 20 lots a month the rebate is $3.60 x 20 = $72.00; at 200 lots it is $3.60 x 200 = $720.00.

Bar chart: $72.00 at 20 lots a month and $720.00 at 200 lots a month.
Example rebate of $3.60 per lot (an example 75% provider share of a $4.80 maximum partner commission on a $12.00 spread). Not a quote.

The risk runs the other way too. Trading more lots to earn more rebate means paying more spread: each extra lot in this example still costs you $8.40 net. Rebates should follow your strategy, never drive it.

How you get a rebate

  1. New account: register through the rebate provider's partner link, or type its partner code where the broker's form asks for one.
  2. Existing account: some brokers let support move your account to a new partner, some do not. Ask the broker first.
  3. Tell the provider your account number so it can match the commission the broker reports. Never share your password.
  4. Get paid on the provider's schedule. The broker's partner schedule (Markets4you every 4 hours, XM daily) is not the schedule you are paid on.

Blocktechpro does not run a rebate program: we are a partner of the brokers we cover and keep our commission. Common questions are answered on our FAQ page.

Checks before you pick a rebate provider

  • Does it state its share as a percentage of what it earns, and say that broker rates are maximums?
  • Does it name the payout method, the schedule and where you see the volume each payment is based on?
  • Does it leave your trading conditions untouched? A rebate should never come with a wider spread.
  • Does it ask for your password or a deposit? If so, walk away.

Risk warning

Forex and CFD trading with leverage can lose money quickly, and rebates do not protect you from losses. Partner rates change and differ by country, so confirm them with the broker. Read our risk disclaimer; this article is not financial advice.
